There was a recent live Zoom call on Human Performance Technology with book author and Chief Learning Officer of Stellar Labs, Stella Collins. Collins is the author of the bestselling book Neuroscience for Learning and Development. The host for this live call was Guy W. Wallace, a Performance Analyst and Instructional Architect.

This live webinar, with Stella Collins, was really focused on her career progression and the influencers who shaped her viewpoints of today. She began studying psychology on digital learning and while she studied, she learned more about using technology to help people with disabilities. She mastered various skills in Information Technology (IT) through roles such as analyst, coder, and researcher for a bank. Later, she continued to develop her IT skills in artificial intelligence which afterward transitioned her into training.

She began to build curiosity in seeing how she can leverage technology to support learning. There were several field experts who influenced her work and she was inspired to help people do their jobs better. Stella decided to move to Stellar Labs, where she helps her clients upskill their workforce, and helps with applications to transfer their skills in the workplace. Stella describes her profession as,

"I mess with people's brains so that they can do things better than they could do than before".

When Stella was asked to share which were her early influencers, current influencers, and book recommendations, these were her responses.

Summary

The most valuable portion of this live Zoom call was the list of influencers who have helped Stella shape her professional experiences, and viewpoints on learning and development, and also develop her expertise in the field of human performance. These are all influencers I plan to follow on LinkedIn social media or grab one of their books to expand my knowledge on concepts, theories, and methodologies that are emerging in today's learning and development and human performance fields.
